 End of season

Apologises to our regular visitors for the lack of updates recently, I spent a week in Dublin making things difficult.

Trojans highest placed team finished a respectable 7th in Investec EHL Women's West within 3 points of 5th and well clear of the relegation battle. The ladies 2's fought off relegation finishing 6 points ahead of relegated Winchester 1's. The men's 1s finished 6th in a season with many ups and downs but this can be considered a good position in the rebuilding process. Unfortunately the men's 2's where relegated to Hampshire 2 finishing bottom of the table. The Ladies 3's also suffered a similar fate but have made excellent progress this season. The men's 3's finished in a similar manner to the 1's sitting comfortably mid table. Well done to everyone who played a part in Trojans season whether it was playing, coaching, umpiring or just supporting. Remember to buy your tickets for the end of season meal!

Ladies finish the season

With both the Ladies 1's and 2's safe the last game of the season meant they were only playing for position in the league. The ladies 2's started the game hosting Wanderers but unfortunately lost 2-1. The ladies 1's then faced ISCA in the final game of the Investec EHL Womens West league. Trojans opened the scoring with Rebbecca Van Berkel putting T's ahead from a short corner before ISCA equalised 5 minutes later. ISCA scored a second just after half time however with 3 minutes to go captain Nyssa Cole scored an equaliser for Trojans. T's might have thought they would get a point out of the game however it was not to be with former Trojan Amy Sheehan scoring for ISCA in the last few minute to secure all 3 points for the team from Exeter. The men's 1stteam drew 1-1 with Old Kingstonians with Ben Frost scoring the only goal for Trojans (MATCH REPORT). Elsewhere the men's 2's and 3's both lost with the 2's going down 3-2 to Wimborne and the 3's losing 2-1 to Yateley. Ost of the men's teams finish the season with home games next week. So get up to the club, enjoy the sun and cheer the boys on.

 Ladies 1's lose to Gloucester.

Trojans Ladies 1st made the 2 hour journey north to face top half side Gloucester City. The home side opened the scoring in the 19th minute however Trojans equalised 10 minutes later with Zelda Beverly scoring from a short corner. The sides went into the half time break level but it didn't last long with Buckingham scoring what would be the winning goal within 2 minutes of the restart. Trojans last game in the Investec EHL Women's West is a 2.00 push back at Stoneham Lane next week. The ladies' 2's travelled to Sussex where they faced top side Lewes. The top side proved just why they are in the position they are beating the travelling Trojans side 6-2. The ladies 2's finish the season at home to Wanderers next Saturday.

Men's 1's bad from continues.

Despite good from after Christmas the men's 1's lost their 4thgame in a row losing out to local rivals Hamble 2-1 (MATCH REPORT). The men's 2's lost away to Southampton Uni , the men's beat Yateley 2-1 and the result of the day came in the men's 5thteam game as they ran out 9-0 winners.

Trojans ladies 1's took the lead with a Laura Nicholls goal against Barnes on Saturday but 3 goals in 20 minutes secured the win for the London side. Rebbecca Van Berkel scored a 2nd for 2's after half time but it wasn't enough and the game finished 3-2. The ladies 2's came out of the weekend with 6 points after beating Lewes 5-1 on Saturday and London Wayfarers 2-1 on Sunday. The men's 1's travelled to London for the weekend however lost both games (Weekend report). Trojans men's 2's but in a good performance against top side Salisbury on Saturday however lost 2-1. Sunday would see Trojans 2's be involved in a 15 goal thriller but again losing 9-6 to Winchester.

Trojans Ladies 1's travelled to Somerset where they were to face bottom side Team Bath. Zelda Beverely scored for T's in the very first minute of the game before Nyssa Cole scored the games second in the 8th minute. Bath scored from a short corner before Laura Nicholls put Trojans 3-1 up. Team Bath scored another short corner early in the second half however goals for Verana Sambel and Nyssa Cole secured all 3 points. The game finished 5-2 and takes Trojans up to 6th only 3 points from 4th. Trojans men's 1st team travelled to Chichester where they lost 3-2. Goals from Ed Jeffery and Matt Watts weren't enough to continue Trojans winning streak. (MATCH REPORT)

It turns out 5 is the magic number…

Trojans men's 1's beat Andover 5-0 to pick up their 5th successive win of the year. Goals from David King(2), Ben Cole, James Watts and Ed Jeffery helped Trojans pick up yet another 3 points MATCH REPORT. Trojans Men's 1st XI reach the quarter final of the national vase!

 Announcement

Due to working commitments Michael Reid has already stepped down as Chairman of the Hockey Section, and sadly I have also had to become less involved due to my own personal commitments and working situation. It is not a decision that either of us have taken lightly however we both strongly feel individually that it is not right for a Chairperson to not be seen or heard from by its members. As you will have noticed recently you probably haven't seen me, I do not feel that this is acceptable for a Chairperson and because of this have been meeting with many other highly motivated and invloved members and have found a current replacement for the predicament that we find ourselves in.

From this point on Simon Gibbons and Campbell Williams will be holding our ship steady and get us through the season with my assistance and continue with the fantastic forward momentum that we have managed to establish over the past year. They are very keen for us to continue in the same light, but have the time to focus on our financial and organisational structure which puts them in the perfect position to take on the club Chairing position.

I regret that I am not able to continue but hope that we will all be able to support the club in the same way that we have and not lose focus on the momentum that we have already built up.

You can still continue to contact me and I will of course do everything that I can to ensure that your problems are solved.

Rob Walker

P.S. Don't worry I'm still going to make sure we have an amazing End of Season Dinner!

 END OF SEASON DINNER!!!!

A date for your diaries everyone...the End of Season Dinner will be held at Trojans on Friday 27th April. The evening will be very similar to last year however this year we will have some fantastic raffle prizes to be given away, so trust me...start saving now because it will be worth it.

Final ticket price will be announced once we have confirmed a couple of things but get the date in the diary, I am expecting us to be at capacity for the kitchen and venue so when tickets are available please make sure you buy them quickly!!!

Many thanks

Rob

Trojans survive the cold but lose out to Buckingham

In a weekend when the majority of Hockey games across the country were lost to the frost both the Ladies 1's and 3's games survived. The ladies 3's travelled to Portsmouth but went down 2-1 in questionable conditions with Jess Green scoring T's only goal. The ladies 1's restarted their EHL West campaign on Sunday but lost 1-0 to promotion chasing Buckingham in what was a close game of hockey. Buckingham's goal came in the 51st minute and only a good save from the Buckingham keeper from a short corner right at the end of the game meant they left with all 3 points.

 Junior training 3/2/12

Unfortunately the decision has been made to cancel junior training this week(3rdFebruary) due to the weather conditions. The pitch is freezing every evening and isn't safe to play on. Good luck to all of you who are playing at the weekend.

Ladies training tonight has also been cancelled for those of you that have yet to find out.

Stay warm, see you all at the weekend (possibly)!

Tickets now on sale for National League and Cup match

Only joking. One of the benefits at being at a club like Trojans is that you don't have to pay to watch national league hockey. The ladies 1's restart their season after the winter/indoor break on Sunday with a home game against high flying Buckingham. If you can get down to Trojans they will appreciate the support! Next week Trojans men's 1stteam host Ipswich on Sunday 12thto fight it out for a place in the national vase quarter final and again would appreciate any support you can offer.

 Fortress Stoneham Lane.

What a wonderful day for hockey that is if you were a Trojans player playing at home. Every home team won today and a great effort by all. The day started with the ladies 3's wining and from the cheers at the end of the game I think these 3 points meant a lot. The Ladies 2's took to the pitch to face Winchester 1's and came off the pitch with a 6-1 win, again a good 3 points. The Men's 1's continued the good form they have been showing with a 9-2 win over Croydon

(read the match report). Followed by the men's 5's and 3's both winning. Not many clubs across the country would turn down wins for all the home teams on a Saturday let's hope it continues in the coming weeks!

 Under 18 National Indoor finals

Last weekend (21/22nd Jan) saw the U18 Girls taking part in the National Indoor Championship Finals for the 2nd year in a row. The team were looking to improve upon an =7th place finish last year. They started the competition with the toughest test possible, playing against reigning champions… Read the full report and find out where the girls finished...

Men's 1st XI start 2012 with a win.

The Men's 1's travelled to Basingstoke and came away with a 3-1 win after a disciplined performance by all (Read the match report here). Unfortunately the men's 2nd and 3rd team both lost at home with the Ladies 2nd team losing in Eastbourne. The highlight of the weekend for Trojans may well be found at Fleming park in Eastleigh where the Under 18 girls are competing in the National finals. In the first game of the day Trojans went 1-0 up after a L.Gittens goal but eventually lost 4-1 after a panicked 5 minutes conceding 3. In the 2nd game of the day Trojans beat Havering 4-1 with goals from L.Gittens (2), L.Vincent and M.Smith. Coach Chris Gittens still feels they have another gear and will be looking for results against Bowdon and Firebrands tomorrow. Their games are at 9.30 and 12.30. Get down to Fleming park and support the girls in their attempt to bring back silverware to Stoneham Lane.

 Happy New Year

A very happy new year to all the Trojans members but it's time to get training again!

Training begins next week. Tuesday 3rd Jan for the Men and Thursday 5th Jan for the Ladies 2nd and 3rd XI. The Ladies 1st XI are starting the following week after completing their indoor season.
