Wednesday 4th February saw the very first Hockey Skill School Weekly Skills Clinic at HCS. The Hockey Skill School is a new initiative being run in partnership with Trojans HC to help provide extra playing and coaching opportunities for young players. Open to players 10-16 years old from all clubs and schools, not just Trojans, the aim is to deliver skill focused coaching to help increase the technical skill level of players.
The first session went well despite the freezing temperatures and is a promising start for a very exciting programme. The focus was on playing and receiving lifted passes and saw a range of players from 10-14 years old (boys & girls) practicing the skill in a variety of ways.
The Weekly Skills Clinic continues next Wednesday, 6.30pm @Hampshire Collegiate School. The astro is behind the main school building, Skill School coaches will be in the main car park at 6.30pm to walk players down if they have not been to the school before. There are also holiday camps fast approaching on the 16th, 17th and 18th February.
