Trojans' player earns regional honours

One of Trojans' own has been selected for the over 35s Southern England squad to represent the region in the national tournament being held up in Sheffield on the 17-18th August.

Phil Roch, keeper and captain for the Men's 2nd team, had his place in the team announced this week after getting through to the final stages of the England O35 masters trials and impressing the selectors.

"I'm absolutely stoked for the selection and being able to represent our region with an incredibly talented bunch of players. Being at Trojans has kept my hockey playing ability and passion for the sport up on high and i'm eager to push my energies into gaining success at this esteemed tournament. Bring it on!" Phil Said.

Other selected players come from clubs based from the various counties within Southern hockey league's jurisdiction (Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex, Kent, Middlesex, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire), and many of the players have had represented their country internationally and still do in the current England O35 squad.

Abbeydale Sports Club, home to Sheffield Hallem Hockey club, will be hosting the teams in this recently resurrected competition (for this age group).

The south squad will take on not just the other English regions (North, East, West, Midlands) but also a top select squad from the military services.

Trojans' HC wishes him and the team well and hope that they achieve winning the coveted regional championship title!
