Trojans Hockey

Update on Hockey at Trojans

We hope everyone that has been able to get out on the pitch has enjoyed doing so and we will be continuing to have free play bookings for members on Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Sundays from next week. From next week, we will no longer have availability for free play sessions on a Saturday, so that we are able to free up more space for the junior group bookings.

We are fortunate to have been able to organize a number of drag flick clinics with Calum Giles on Sunday 21st June starting at 10:00am. Calum is an ex Great Britain and Olympic hockey player, who was renowned as one of the best drag flickers in the world. He was so good, that they changed the rules of hockey so that a substitution couldn’t be made prior to a penalty corner!

Calum will send players any videos taken during the session and he will send an attached commentary of things to work on as discussed during the session. This will allow for reference points/reminders post session. We will ask for consent from parents for any video to take place.

We have times available at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 14:00 at a cost of £20/person. Years 7,8,9,10,11,12 can book any time from 10:00 to 13:00. The 14:00 session will be reserved for adults (U18 age group can join adult sessions). These sessions can be booked on the online booking system (link below) where payment can be made by paypal or debit/credit card. Groups will be 4 players.

You will get an automated confirmation email upon payment.

England Hockey released in depth guidance yesterday on steps and measures we should take to move to phase 2 of the return to Hockey. Therefore, we have had to make a number of changes to the provision that we had planned to provide.

Therefore, we will only be operating two groups on the pitch at any one time. The coach will stay with their group for the duration of the session. Sessions will be staggered by 10 minutes to aid arrival and departure of groups/individuals

Booking Procedure

  • You may make one booking per week on a weekday and one per week on a Saturday.

  • Every individual player is required to fill in the below google form – please request a day/s that you would like your son/daughter to attend. You will be required to fill in all details. Those of you that have already done so, please do not worry about filling in the new google form as we already have your information and bookings.

  • There will be an option on the google form to request to be paired with particular friends. We can’t guarantee this, but will try our best.

  • The timings will be completely open to all junior players in year 7 and above.

  • A booking is not made until you have received a confirmation email.

  • Please be patient with us, there is a lot of admin involved with running these sessions combined with regular changes in guidance from the Government and England Hockey.

  • There will be 4 outfield players and a goalkeeper in each group or 5 outfield players dependent upon sign up from goalkeepers.

  • We have kept the cost at £5 per session despite the increased work-load as a result of yesterdays new England Hockey guidance. You will receive a £5 discount if you book 5 or more sessions.

  • Payment will be made electronically. You will receive an invoice with payment link upon confirmation of your booking. Again, please be patient with us, you will not get confirmation instantly as we are having to manually input bookings, raise invoice and then send confirmation. Unfortunately, the booking system, which we are using for the free play sessions has too many limitations to be effective at managing the group bookings.

Booking Availability

  • All sessions are one hour long.

  • Our opening times for small group training sessions are as follows: -

Monday – 17:30, 18:45

Wednesday – 16:45, 16:55, 18:00, 18:10, 19:15, 19:25, 20:30, 20:40

  • Unfortunately, there is already very limited availability on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. We have added the Monday sessions as an extra to help with availability.

  • Dave Miles will be taking on the administration of the small group bookings and will have access to the email address if you have any queries regarding the small group bookings.

  • Dave will also be overseeing the coaching of the sessions and is putting plans in place to make the sessions very enjoyable for all. This is all new for the coaches, so please make things as easy as possible for them by following all the rules sent out previously and below.

You can now make all bookings for free play sessions by using the online booking system. The system is fully automated and you will receive a booking confirmation by email upon making a booking. Please use the following link to do so.
