Volunteering Roles

Trojans Hockey is run by volunteers. Without the support of members and the community, we would not be able to operate.

We have a range of volunteering roles open to those ready with enthusuasm and commitment. Please get in touch with any of the committee members or via the contact details below.

Umpire Secretary

We need an organised individual (or two) to help organise the schedule for umpires at weekends for both seniors and juniors. A rewarding role, without which no hockey could take place!

Umpires

We are in desperate need of people to pick up a whistle! No prior knowledge of the rules is required, and training can be arranged.

This could particularly suit parents of juniors, as you may well be at the game anyway!

We encorage juniors to learn to umpire as well from age 14+ - a great way to develop your appreciation for the game.

Umpires appointed to matches can be paid.

This year, we are looking to expand the junior hockey program to include an overseas tour. We are looking for an individual to help with the management of the tour.

Trojans Hockey is building a team of volunteers to help tell the club's story — and we want to hear from you.

With two National League teams, a growing junior section, and an active community programme, there has never been more to shout about. We are looking for passionate people to help us share it — across local press, social media, our website, and club events.

We currently have five volunteer roles available:

• Communications Lead - Editorial direction and website content, coordinating the wider media team
• Local Press Coordinator - Collating match reports and news releases for regional newspapers
• Social Media Managers - Running our X, Facebook, and Instagram channels
• Club Photographer - Capturing match day and event photography for press, web, and social
• Events & Socials - Planning and delivering the club's social calendar and fundraising events

These roles suit club members with relevant experience, but are equally well suited to students studying sports journalism, media, photography, marketing, or events management - offering genuine hands-on experience and real portfolio material.

We may not fill every role at once, but each person who steps forward brings us closer to a club that is more visible, better connected, and more attractive to new players and sponsors alike.
