Hockey Section Maintenance Day 2025

A big thank you to everyone that came along on Sunday to help with the pitch and surrounding maintenance on a sunny Sunday.

We made a lot of progress on a very sunny day to get the pitch and stand ready for another great season of hockey with:

• New windows in the dugouts
• Some replaced baseboards on the fence
• New sleepers by the path
• Replaced broken seats in the stand, with more on order
• Swept and tidied stand
• Part-way through refurbishing practise goals with new nets and wheels

If you didn't manage to make it to the club for the maintenance day, there are plenty of other ways you can help the club as we gear up for the new season:

Volunteering

There are still a lot of volunteering vacancies open within the section, so if you have the skills to help out in any of the below (or anything else!), let us know.

The club is powered by volunteers, and every little helps to make for an enjoyable environment.

Umpiring

The Club has to provide 2 umpires for 78 senior Saturday fixtures, more if South Central Officiating can’t provide appointed umpires for our men’s 3s (so potentially 89 fixtures).

We also have to provide umpires on Sundays for junior fixtures, most matches requiring umpires qualified to Level 1 standard.

We simply can't do this with the small pool of available volunteers- we rely on the same handful of people each week giving up their Saturdays and Sundays to officiate.
