U12 Boys go top of Div 2 after hard fought matches against Salisbury & Bourn'th

With back to back matches against the top two teams the U12 Boys were always going to have to play their best to get a result .....and they did.

Match 1 was against Bournemouth @ a wet Ganger Farm. I'd asked the boys to run a high press and didn't they ever, aggressively looking to break away from the wings with Hughie and Henry giving Griff and Harry getting numerous chances. Griff converted multiple to quickly give us the lead. Maluke and Thomas providing a solid defence.

In the 2nd half William and Odhran were a wall in defence giving Lucas a easy 2nd half. Maluke moved up got a well deserved goal. The distribution was excellent overall. A great 5-1 win.

Match 2 was against Salisbury. The boys started slowly conceding within 2 mins to go behind against a clearly stronger side of older players. But the teamwork and energy shown by the boys to get back to defend as well as attacking at pace was a pleasure to watch. Huge celebrations when Griff managed to steal a goal back.

We then got a little tight and lost some of the width. William had a fantastic game on the right wing winning the ball on multiple occasions and creating chances for Harry. Odhran and Thomas made multiple crucial tackles as the last line of defence. Henry so nearly got another screamer - just denied by the post. On the attack Salisbury were strong, reaching 1 on 1 situations multiple times but Lucas had an absolutely stunning game with both his reaction saves, and some perfect clearances away from the attackers. Our star striker Griff managed to steal a 2nd which give us a 2-1 lead much to the applause of our amazing side line parent supporters.

By the last few mins the boys were tired and conceded a short corner in the last seconds. There was therefore huge cheers after a pinball exchange in our D was finally cleared. Given Trojans a hard fought victory. Super proud of the boys team spirit!
